Is your Storm Basin full of sand, leaves or debris?
The Drain Experts will properly maintain these areas helping to avoid costly repairs.
We clean basins as regular preventive maintenance and on an emergency basis. Whether your catch basin drains are flooding over or you just want to keep them from blocking up, we have the personnel qualified the job. American Rooter can have equipment on site within 1 -2 hours to clear any clogged catch basin or storm drain.
Proper maintenance will help you to avoid common costly Storm Catch Basin issues:
- Storm pipes and outlets filling with sand and debris
- High levels of oily contaminates from surface runoff
- Flooding and frozen driveways, parking lots, and roads
- Clogged Storm Drains or Silt Seperators
Storm Catch Basin Tips:
- The bottom of the pipe exiting a catch basin should always be at least 3"
above the debris level. If it's not, the basin needs cleaning.
- Clean the grates on top of the basins regularly, especially in fall when the
leaves come down. These tops get blocked very easily and buried without notice.
- Never dump brush, leaves or grass clipping in the discharge area.
Eventually debris will cover the outlet entirely.

The basin itself is the last item to completely fill with dirt and debris. If dirt is right to the top of the grate, the pipe is probably filled in. Drains will get packed full of material up to the outlet and discharge area. Years of neglect will lead to this problem. The cost to fix this is 3 to 4 times higher versus regular maintenance.
Catch Basin and Storm Drain Cleaning Company
Vacuum truck and water jetting company for storm drain catchbasin cleaning
American Rooter, The Drain ExpertsTM cleans catch basin and clogged storm drains with vactor trucks, jet trucks and pump trucks. Often neglected, catch basins in roads or parking lots are easily filled with winter sanding debris or eroded dirt. When a basin grate is blocked or the storm drain or outlet is clogged, flash flooding can occur easily.
Simply maintaining catch basins by cleaning them annually is the best way to prevent a flood during a heavy rain storm. Not only essential, but cleaning a catch basin is required by the Federal Clean Water Act. Over time, a catch basin will fill with sediment and eventually the storm pipe, silt separator, and outlet area where it discharges to. Our vacuum truck company sucks the dirt from basins and storm manholes in the road, street, parking lot, parking garage, yard, or a building. If the storm pipe is clogged leaving the basin, American Rooter, The Drain ExpertsTM, has water jetting equipment to clean a storm line as small as 3" diameter and as large as 48" diameter. Our vac truck service is equipped to reach basins or storm manholes off the road or in the building too. American Rooter, The Drain ExpertsTM is also capable of hydroexcavation in dangerous or sensitive areas where buried utilities are difficult to dig near. Storm basin systems usually drain through a silt separator system or retention pond but eventually drain to another water body like a brook, stream, or river. When these outlet areas get filled with silt, the area needs to be dug out or dredged. Call American Rooter to learn more about pond dredging and storm drain system outlet excavation.
